TDI–Toluene Disocyanate
It is also known in the market as Toluene Diisocyanate, TDI, Toluendisocyanate, TDI 80.
What is TDI 80/20?
Toluene diisocyanate 80/20 is a mixture of the 2.4 (80%) and 2.6 (20%) isomers of Toluene diisocyanate. It is liquid at room temperature, slightly yellow in color with a pungent odor.
What is TDI 80/20 used for?
TDI 80/20 is used as a raw material, together with materials containing OH groups, to form urethane bonds. It is mainly used to obtain flexible foams, urethane elastomers, coatings, and adhesives, among others.
Main characteristics of TDI 80/20
- Liquid at room temperature.
- Reacts violently with water.
- Reacts with a wide variety of polyols (different molecular weights and functionalities)
- Reacts with amino groups to form urea bonds.
